IT Nation Secure Conference Recap

This past month our Technical Director Kevin Dutkiewicz and our Security Tsar, Adam Evans went down to Orlando for the IT Nation Secure conference presented by ConnectWise. This conference focuses on cybersecurity in our slice of the technology world. We’ve asked them to share some of the fun and talk about what they took away from the event.

Adam’s Take

IT Nation Secure was a fantastic experience. I’m no stranger to conferences and our partners never disappoint. Since this conference focuses on cybersecurity I was the proverbial kid in the candy store all week.

There were some incredible sessions regarding cyber insurance and the pitfalls many MSPs make in this process. I loved hearing from the insurance experts themselves and came back with a lot of great next steps for us.

Also, there were great topics around the compliance work I’ve been living in for the last year. I’m excited to take some of those lessons down to our clients.

Of course, I can’t talk about a conference without talking about the chance to talk with vendors in our space. It’s always great chatting with our wonderful partners (shout out to Sophos, Huntress, and Liongard) to hear what’s coming up. But there were also some amazing folks with tools that address some needs we’re experiencing.

And lastly, it’s always awesome to chat with our peers. I love hearing that we’re not alone in some of the challenges we face, talking about how to overcome those, and sharing how we’ve overcome them. Also, it’s great to talk to folks with such a wealth of knowledge and learning from their shared collective experiences. I’d name names here, but this would go on forever.

Oh and finally, I HAVE to mention this. I volunteered to shave the beard with a dozen of my other bearded brethren all to raise $100k for charity. Please check out this wonderful cause and donate if you can! https://cybermattlee.com/shave-that-beard/

Wrapping up

Conferences like this are a great experience. Not only do we get to catch up with some of our partners, but it’s a great chance for us to hear from the legit experts on topics. This level of continued education is critical for us to keep abreast of the changing world we live in.

Not only that, we really enjoy the times we get to spend with our peers outside of the sessions. It’s great being able to chat with folks who understand the struggles we’ve encountered, but also hear their ideas for working through those issues. It’s this kind of collaboration that helps make the MSP industry a better place.

And with that – it’s time to get back to the hard work at hand.

Next up – DefCon 30 with Kevin and Adam!
